Cairo: In the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt, focusing on cooperation in the tourism sector. The signing took place during the Crown Prince's official visit to Egypt.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the MoU was signed by Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Bahrain's Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ahmed Kouchouk, Egypt's Minister of Finance. Fatima bint Jaffar Al Sairafi, Bahrain's Minister of Tourism, stated that the agreement aims to strengthen tourism ties between the two nations. It encourages the exchange of familiarisation visits and the use of the latest technologies in tourism promotion.
Al Sairafi highlighted that this initiative aligns with Bahrain's vision to expand sustainable growth in tourism, contributing to mutual interests. The MoU builds upon the cultural heritage and tourist appeal of both countries, supporting the objectives of Bahrain's Tourism Strategy 2022-2026.
The Minister also noted the importance of joint efforts to implement tourism development plans. The MoU includes cooperation in organising exhibitions and festivals, holding reciprocal tourism weeks, and conducting joint workshops. Additionally, it focuses on tourism investment opportunities and sharing information on tourism legislation and development projects.
The agreement further includes coordination within regional and international forums, exchanging expertise in tourism training, and supporting sustainable tourism practices, including innovation and digital transformation. The MoU also aims to promote green tourism initiatives.
