New delhi: As part of Bahrain’s chairmanship of the 46th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Ambassador Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Qaoud, Bahrain’s Ambassador to India, chaired a meeting of GCC ambassadors in New Delhi with India’s Minister of External Affairs, Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. Ambassador Al Qaoud highlighted the strong ties between the GCC and India, praising India’s support and high-level engagement with GCC leadership.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Ambassador Al Qaoud expressed appreciation for India’s backing of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 and its efforts to promote regional and global security and stability. The discussions during the meeting focused on regional developments, with the Ambassador stressing the need to halt Iranian attacks on GCC and Arab states, which threaten regional security and target civilians and critical infrastructure, including energy facilities, desalination plants, and airports.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of protecting international navigation and maritime security, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz. The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue coordination and cooperation to strengthen regional security and stability.
