Brussels: Dr. Mohammed Ali Bahzad, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Kingdom of Belgium and Head of Bahrain's Mission to the European Union, chaired the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) side, representing the current GCC Presidency, at the seventh GCC-EU Trade and Investment Dialogue, held in Brussels. The meeting convened representatives from the GCC General Secretariat, relevant ministries and authorities from GCC member states, and several European Union officials and experts.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting focused on reviewing investment priorities for both sides. Discussions covered trade and technical cooperation in economic diversification and renewable and green energy. The dialogue also addressed cooperation within the World Trade Organization framework, technical standards and specifications, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, intellectual property, digital trade, the GCC Customs Union, and customs cooperation to prevent sanctions circumvention.
The annual dialogue is designed to strengthen and expand the GCC-EU partnership in trade and investment fields. It aims to promote mutual investment and maximise opportunities in Gulf and European markets.
