Arab League Chief Denounces Iranian Attacks as ‘Strategic Mistake’ Worsening Regional Tensions

Manama: Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Arab League Secretary-General, condemned the Iranian attacks targeting several Arab countries, describing the current situation as dangerous and unacceptable. He stated that the aggression is a blatant violation of international law and the United Nations Charter and is a direct assault on the principles of good neighbourliness. These actions, according to Aboul Gheit, create unprecedented hostility and a deep rift between Iran and its Arab neighbours, with long-term negative effects on the future of regional relations. According to Bahrain News Agency, Aboul Gheit explained that there is no justification for targeting neighbouring Arab countries to drag them into military conflicts they are not involved in, especially as some of these countries have made serious efforts to prevent catastrophic confrontations in the region. He considered that continuing these attacks represents a "serious strategic mistake by Iran" that must be corrected and stopped immediately. Aboul Gheit wa rned of the danger of expanding the current conflict, stressing the need for Iran to rectify the situation with all targeted countries before it is too late and to return to rational dialogue to preserve the remaining security and stability of the region.
