Ambassador to Italy Participates in UNFSS+4 Summit in Addis Ababa

Addis ababa: Osama Abdullah Al Absi, Ambassador to Italy and Permanent Representative to the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), led the Kingdom of Bahrain's delegation at the second United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS+4). The summit is co-hosted by the Republic of Italy and the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa headquarters in Addis Ababa.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the opening session was attended by His Excellency Abiy Ahmed Ali, Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia; Her Excellency Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister of the Italian Republic; and Amina J. Mohammed, UN Deputy Secretary-General and Chair of the UN Sustainable Development Group.

The summit will assess progress made since the first UN Food Systems Summit in 2021, address means to strengthen accountability, boost investments and financing, and enhance collective commitments at all levels to accelerate achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

It aims to ensure that investments, financial resources, partnerships, and governance mechanisms effectively support sustainable, inclusive, and resilient food systems by 2030.
