Algeria calls for a legal and political consensus to hold elections in Libya

Member of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, received, on Sunday, in Tripoli, the Algerian Ambassador to Libya, Suleiman Shanin.

The media office of the Presidential Council said in a statement that the meeting dealt with developments in the political situation in Libya, the Council’s efforts to complete the national reconciliation project, and ways to achieve legal and political consensus for conducting the elections.

The statement quoted the Algerian ambassador as affirming the importance of ending the crisis in Libya by peaceful means through a Libyan-Libyan solution, pointing to his country’s support for the efforts of the Presidential Council to reach consensus among all components of the political process, and what the Council has achieved in the national reconciliation project.

The meeting touched on the Libyan position towards the Palestinian cause, where Al-Lafi affirmed the official and popular rejection of normalization with the Zionist entity, through the Presidency Council’s adherence to the established national positions, in supporting the Palestinian people and rejecting normalization.
