Alba Triumphs in Inaugural Takafoa Women’s Basketball League Final

Manama: Alba clinched the inaugural Takafoa Women's Basketball League title by defeating Al Najma in a thrilling final held at the Umm Al Hassam Sports Hall Complex. The league, a brainchild of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, aims to bolster the presence of Bahraini women in sports and promote their empowerment and participation. According to Bahrain News Agency, the event was graced by notable attendees, including Dr. Abdul Rahman Sadiq Askar, CEO of the General Sports Authority (GSA); Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA); and various officials from the GSA. Members of the Equal Opportunities and Gender Balance Sports Field Committee and the BBA Board of Directors were also present to witness the landmark event. Vision secured the third spot after a victory over Sporsista in the third-place play-off. This league is an initiative by the GSA, in collaboration with the Equal Opportunities and Gender Balance Sports Field Committee and the BBA, to create a competitive environment for Bahraini women in sports. The inaugural edition was marked by organisational and technical success, showcasing strong performances from participating teams and highlighting the growth of women's sports in Bahrain. The event also served as a platform to recognize promising talents in the realm of basketball. Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, with GSA officials and committee members, honored the top three teams and outstanding players. Sporsista was awarded the Promising Team Award, while Paramedics Academy received the Ideal Team Award, alongside individual accolades for distinguished players. The final match, characterized by intense competition and high technical standards, drew a significant crowd, underscoring the success of the league in fostering women's sports and increasing female participation in Bahrain.
