Sohar: Dr. Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid, President of the Arabian Gulf University (AGU), participated in the International Symposium on Arab and International Scientific Cooperation in Research and Innovation, organized by Sohar University in collaboration with the Omani Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils (FASRC), and Sohar University in Oman.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al Fuhaid highlighted the significance of collaboration between research institutions in the Arab world, emphasizing the role of universities in advancing science and technology. He reiterated AGU's commitment to developing research and innovation partnerships with international institutions, particularly in critical fields such as artificial intelligence. This initiative aligns with AGU's strategic aim to contribute effectively to sustainable development and scientific advancement in the Gulf region.
Dr. Al Fuhaid also stressed the importance of expanding cooperation among Arab universities and strengthening academic ties with international institutions to elevate the global standing of Arab scientific research.
The symposium features leading experts and international speakers from prominent academic institutions. Participants include representatives from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Association of Arab Universities, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), and the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie. Representatives from major international academic publishers such as Elsevier are also in attendance, along with officials from Arab and international organizations.
Over the course of two days, discussions will delve into Arab scientific cooperation in research and innovation, addressing key challenges and opportunities. Topics include fourth-generation universities, academic evaluation, global university rankings, research ethics, the impact of artificial intelligence on academic publishing, semiconductor design and development, and the research role of Arab universities.
