Manama: Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, visited the General Poultry Company to emphasize the national priority of boosting local production to support food security in the Kingdom.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the visit included Asim Abdullatif Abdullah, Undersecretary for Agriculture Affairs and Animal Wealth Affairs, and Sami Mohammed Zainal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Poultry Company. Minister Al Mubarak underscored the need to continually develop national productive sectors and improve their efficiency to achieve higher self-sufficiency levels, ensuring sustainable food commodity availability and bolstering the Kingdom's strategic reserves.
Minister Al Mubarak reiterated the Ministry's commitment to facilitating the growth and expansion of national companies in the food sector. He highlighted the role of the private sector as a pivotal partner in implementing the National Food Security Strategy, stressing the importance of collaboration between government entities and private enterprises to enhance local production, diversify food sources, and stabilize local markets.
The minister also confirmed the Ministry's ongoing initiatives and projects aimed at advancing agricultural and livestock production. These efforts are complemented by policies and plans designed to enhance the sustainability of the Kingdom's food sector.
During his visit, Minister Al Mubarak reviewed the progress of production operations and inspected new projects and expansion plans intended to boost production capacity and operational efficiency. Chairman Sami Mohammed Zainal praised the Ministry's consistent support, which, he stated, aids in the company's expansion and project development, thereby contributing to increased production and enhanced food security in the Kingdom.
