Agriculture and Marine Resources Undersecretary affirms support to Bahraini fishermen

Manama, Undersecretary for Agriculture and Marine Resources at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Ibrahim Hassan Ali Al-Hawaj, has confirmed the Agriculture and Marine Resources department’s keenness to carry on its strategy to develop the fishing sector, in partnership with the Professional Fishermen’s Society- Muharraq.

He indicated that the department will continue launching initiatives aimed at promoting the fishing sector, being an important pillar in achieving sustainable food security in the Kingdom.

He stressed that the sea is an important source of food in the Kingdom, noting that the department will continue tightening control measures to ensure that the Kingdom’s fish stocks are not affected.

Undersecretary Al-Hawaj was speaking while receiving here a delegation from the Professional Fishermen’s Society, led by Jassim Al-Jairan, with whom he discussed the needs of fishermen.

He underlined the Agriculture and Marine Resources department’s keenness to enhance partnership with the Professional Fishermen’s Society in order to discuss remarks of fishermen, in line with its desire to boost the fishing sector.

He was informed about the delegation’s remarks and proposals aimed at improving the sector and its affiliates, affirming the department’s keenness to implement their remarks, out its belief in its role in supporting Bahraini fishermen, in particular, and the fishing profession, in general.
