2 Seas Motorsport Claims Double Podium in British GT Season Opener

Manama: 2 Seas Motorsport, owned by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, delivered a strong start to the 2025 British GT season, securing victory and a double podium finish in the opening round held at Donington Park in the United Kingdom.

According to Bahrain News Agency, His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa expressed pride in the team's performance, noting that claiming pole position and winning the first race reflects the extensive efforts made during the winter. His Highness also highlighted the drivers' impressive performances, which exceeded expectations despite their limited experience in this category.

His Highness stated that the team's success contributes to the Kingdom of Bahrain's sporting achievements and reinforces its presence on leading international circuits. He affirmed that these results are the outcome of genuine teamwork and the team's ability to meet its objectives, thanking all members for their efforts during the round.

The achievement followed considerable work during the pre-season, as the team had to revise its technical preparations due to an incident during testing. The technical crew succeeded in readying the car within a short timeframe, which was reflected in the team's strong track performance and earned them the 'Team of the Weekend' award from the organisers.

In qualifying, Charles Dawson posted a benchmark time to secure provisional pole, followed closely by teammate Kevin Tse. With combined timings from both qualifying sessions, the team secured a front-row lockout with both Mercedes-AMG GT3 entries - a first in its history in the championship.

During the race, Charles maintained the lead despite it being his GT3 debut, while Kevin engaged in close competition in the opening laps. Charles extended the lead before the safety car was deployed after 30 minutes. Following the pit stop and driver changes at mid-distance, Kiern and Max took over and held position despite intense pressure. Kiern displayed composure and focus under constant challenge to secure a debut win for the duo.

The drivers expressed their satisfaction with the result. Charles Dawson described the weekend as exceptional and credited the outcome to team collaboration, while Kiern Jewiss said the ideal start gives them strong motivation moving forward.

Maximilian G¶tz expressed satisfaction with the front-row start and podium finish, noting the importance of consistent point-scoring throughout the season. Kevin Tse highlighted the collective performance that enabled the team to overcome on-track challenges.

Following these results, 2 Seas Motorsport now leads the championship standings and is preparing for the upcoming Silverstone 500, scheduled to take place from April 25 to 27 - the headline event of the season.
