Wellawaya: A passenger bus plunged into a 1,000-foot ravine near the town of Wellawaya, about 280 kilometers east of Colombo, resulting in the deaths of 15 people and injuries to 16 others.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Sri Lankan police spokesman Fredrick Wootler stated that a preliminary investigation indicated the driver was speeding and lost control. The bus collided with another vehicle and safety barriers before it fell off the cliff.
