11 Dead in Pakistan After Heavy Rain and Dust Storms

Karachi: At least 11 people were killed as heavy rains and dust storms swept through several areas of Pakistan, according to local media reports. The Pakistan Meteorological Department issued warnings of continued monsoon rainfall accompanied by strong winds in Karachi, Hyderabad, and other areas in the coming hours.

According to Bahrain News Agency, fatalities were reported in various regions, including Hyderabad, Punjab province, and Gilgit, where severe weather caused extensive damage. Authorities issued alerts for potential flash floods and urged residents to take necessary precautions.

Pakistan is still reeling from the devastating floods of 2023, which caused an estimated $40 billion in damage, according to the country's finance ministry. That disaster affected more than 33 million people, killed approximately 1,400, and destroyed infrastructure, homes, public facilities, and large areas of farmland.
