Manama: Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, inaugurated the "One Space Unites Us" event, organized by the ministry in collaboration with the Bahrain Space Agency and the Nasser Centre for Science and Technology. The event was attended by young participants from Bahrain and other GCC countries.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the event was held in celebration of Gulf Youth Day. Minister Tawfiqi emphasized that young individuals are the true wealth of any nation, serving as the foundation for its future. She stated that empowering youth, particularly in innovation, technology, and the space sector, is a strategic priority for building a future aligned with the country's ambitions.
Minister Tawfiqi highlighted the significance of the event as a pivotal step in promoting space sciences development. She noted that the space sector is now a strategic focus for young people's scientific and technological ambitions, contributing to a sustainable future.
She further remarked that the participation of Gulf youth in the event underscores a strong commitment to cooperation among GCC countries in space and youth empowerment, fostering promising opportunities for innovation and joint development.
Minister Tawfiqi expressed pride in the capabilities of Bahraini and Gulf youth, pointing out that their active engagement in workshops and discussions is instrumental in shaping new ideas and enhancing Gulf collaboration in space, science, and technology.
She added that the "One Space Unites Us" event aims to raise awareness among Gulf youth about the significance of space sciences, inspiring them to explore opportunities within the sector and promoting scientific thinking among younger generations through interactive programs.
On his part, Mohamed Al Othman, Advisor at the Bahrain Space Agency, stated that the event positions Gulf youth at the center of discussions on the future of space in the region. He emphasized that the agency provided comprehensive scientific content and facilitated creative interaction among participants, with discussions generating practical ideas for Gulf cooperation.
Al Othman expressed pride in the youth's ability to embrace these visions and develop well-considered proposals. He mentioned that these proposals will be submitted through a final document to relevant authorities, reflecting the Agency's dedication to being a genuine enabling platform for young talent.
Aysha Al Haram, Chief of the Satellite Design Department at the Bahrain Space Agency, expressed the agency's pride in its role in organizing the event, which brought together young individuals from across the GCC for meaningful scientific dialogue. She mentioned that the agency also organized specialized workshops on the importance and applications of satellites and career opportunities within this sector.
Al Haram stated that the Agency's team led group sessions where participants discussed the role of Gulf youth in the future of space and technology, opportunities and challenges for Gulf cooperation, and start-ups in the Gulf space sector. She noted that participants generated inspiring ideas, summarized in a final document titled "One Space Unites Us."
The event also featured interactive activities designed to explain scientific concepts in an engaging and practical manner. Notably, young talent Adam Ali delivered an inspiring speech about his passion for space at the start of the program, adding a special touch to the event.
