Youth Affairs Minister Highlights Bahrain’s Commitment at 9th Global HSE Conference

Manama: Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, participated in the 9th Edition of the Global HSE Conference and Exhibition, hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain. The minister underscored the need for collective action and cross-border, cross-sector strategic partnerships, emphasizing the vital role of youth in shaping the future.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Minister Tawfiqi highlighted the Kingdom's commitment to empowering youth as a key pillar of a prosperous and sustainable future. She emphasized the need to harness their energy and enable their contribution to sustainable solutions, particularly in areas such as environmental innovation and digital transformation.

She pointed out several national initiatives reflecting this approach, such as the Bahrain Science Centre for SDGs, established in 2018. The centre serves as an advanced educational institution promoting environmental awareness and innovation in clean energy and sustainability, operating with eco-friendly technologies that foster sustainability practices among youth.

The minister also discussed Youth City 2030, one of Bahrain's largest national youth programmes. This six-week interactive learning environment features advanced workshops in science, technology, media, arts, and entrepreneurship, aiming to equip young people with the skills needed for future job markets and active participation in public life.

Minister Tawfiqi noted that these initiatives are part of a broader national strategy to empower youth, creating a supportive environment that fosters innovation, creativity, and decision-making participation. She stated that Bahrain is working to expand these initiatives locally, regionally, and internationally through sustainable partnerships that promote knowledge exchange and joint youth projects, aligning with the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.

She emphasized that youth are not only central to the present but are key partners in building a safer, more sustainable future. Investing in their capabilities and equipping them with tools for innovation and knowledge is fundamental to any genuine developmental transformation.
