The World Health Organization has warned that the fake “Ozempic” weight loss injection could be fatal, and the organization has identified the United Kingdom, the United States and Brazil as potential locations for these fake drugs.
According to The Times, “World Health officials have issued a warning about the safety of counterfeit Ozempic injections that could be life-threatening and have entered the UK supply chain.”
The World Health Organization has urged patients and doctors to be wary of counterfeit batches of the weight-loss drug, saying it had “detected the drug in the UK, the US and Brazil” and that it was “supplied in a regulated supply chain”, meaning it was supplied by legitimate clinics or doctors in the UK, and could be affecting NHS patients.
The WHO has called on national regulators to “pay more attention” to batches of Ozempic and other weight-loss injections, and said people should look out for warning signs, including spelling errors on boxes.
The newspaper noted that “Ozempic is the b
rand name of the drug semaglutide, which has recently become a huge hit due to its ability to reduce weight significantly and safely.”
