Manama: The Ministry of Works has launched a summer road maintenance programme covering key roads across Bahrain to improve asphalt quality, extend road lifespan, and enhance traffic safety. In coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic, a comprehensive traffic plan has been developed to ensure smooth flow and minimize disruptions. The plan includes detours on main roads and maintenance of expansion joints on several bridges.
According to Bahrain News Agency, key roads in the program include Dry Dock Highway, Kuwait Avenue, sections of Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway, and bridges such as Shaikh Hamad Bridge, along with detour bridges in Salman Port and Umm Al Hassam. The ministry emphasised the importance of timely maintenance to avoid costly full road reconstruction and to preserve infrastructure. It also urged drivers to follow traffic signs and use alternative routes during closures, which will be announced through various media channels.
