Manama: Ibrahim bin Hassan Al Hawaj, Minister of Works, conducted a field visit to review progress on the flyover project linking Shaikh Isa bin Salman Causeway to Avenue 105 in the Busaiteen area, as part of the ministry's efforts to enhance traffic flow and improve infrastructure between the Muharraq and Capital Governorates.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the visit was attended by Shaikh Mishaal bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Works, and Ahmed Sami Al Tajer, Assistant Undersecretary for Roads at the Ministry of Works. Minister Al Hawaj was briefed on the latest project updates, noting that it includes the construction of a two-lane flyover in each direction. This flyover aims to carry traffic from Manama via the Shaikh Isa bin Salman Causeway to the Muharraq Ring Road through Avenue 105 in Busaiteen, as well as manage traffic from the Muharraq Ring Road towards Muharraq city.
The Works Minister highlighted that the project is part of broader efforts to develop the main road network between Manama and Muharraq. The new bridge is expected to improve traffic flow between the two governorates, especially following the opening of the Muharraq Ring Road in late 2024, which significantly enhanced the connection across major routes.
He further elaborated that the project will facilitate movement between Manama, Muharraq, Busaiteen, Al Sayah, and Diyar Al Muharraq, while alleviating congestion at the junction of the Shaikh Isa bin Salman Causeway and Al Ghous Street. Minister Al Hawaj also noted that temporary traffic diversions are currently in place and urged road users to follow the signs and diversions to ensure their safety and that of on-site workers.
