Works Minister inspects Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Bridge maintenance project

Ibrahim bin Hassan Al Hawaj, Minister of Works, visited Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Bridge to inspect the work on its maintenance project.

The project includes maintenance work, assessment and painting to increase the lifespan of the bridge.

He was briefed on the latest developments in the project.

Al Hawaj said that this project comes within the framework of the road maintenance programme implemented by the Ministry of Works to preserve the road network, ensure the sustainability of the service, and raise the level of traffic safety on roads.

He stated that the project included painting about 62,000 square meters and maintaining the bridge, which extends to 404 metres, replacing the expansion joints, and maintaining the cathodic protection system.

The minister pointed out that the ministry is harnessing all its capabilities to ensure that the roads and streets of the kingdom’s regions receive adequate care and attention, to raise safety rates and enhance the efficiency of the road network.

It is worth noting that the project was awarded by the Tenders and Auctions Board to Hertel LLC, with a total value of BD 3.3 million.
