Works Minister Inspects Main Roads to Review Rain Emergency Response Efforts

Manama: Ibrahim bin Hassan Al Hawaj, Minister of Works, accompanied by Shaikh Meshaal bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Works, and Ahmed Sami Al Tajer, Assistant Undersecretary for Roads, conducted a field visit to a number of main roads across the governorates of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The purpose of the visit was to review the efforts of the rain emergency team and monitor operations on the ground to ensure smooth traffic flow during rainfall.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister confirmed that the main road network and tunnels remain open and operating safely. He noted that rainwater accumulation had been observed on some roads and is being addressed immediately by the rain emergency team in accordance with approved plans. The team has been operating at full capacity since the start of rainfall to maintain traffic flow and road safety by draining accumulated rainwater from main roads that serve as major traffic routes linking different areas of the Kingdom.

Al Hawaj added that the ministry continues to implement its comprehensive plans for the rainy season by intensifying the cleaning of rainwater drainage networks and deploying tankers and pumps at priority locations. Coordination with relevant entities, including the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, the General Directorate of Traffic, the Capital Trustees Board, and municipal councils, has also been strengthened to ensure rapid response and minimize any potential impact on road users' safety.

The Ministry of Works called on road users to exercise caution while driving during rainfall and to report any water accumulation through official channels or via the dedicated hotline for reporting rainwater accumulation on main roads at 17545544. The ministry confirmed that field teams continue to operate around the clock to receive reports and address them promptly.

The ministry also urged the public not to open sewer inspection chamber covers during rainfall and to refrain from disposing of waste into rainwater drainage networks to prevent blockages and potential environmental and material damage, particularly during emergency situations that require the network to operate at full capacity.
