Thessaloniki: A woman died early Saturday when a bomb she was carrying exploded in the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki, according to local police.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the explosion occurred at around 5 a.m. as the woman was reportedly attempting to plant the device outside a nearby bank. The blast caused damage to several shopfronts and vehicles in the area.
Police said the woman, who was known to authorities for her involvement in previous theft cases, was taken to hospital but succumbed to her injuries.
Local residents said they heard a loud blast that shook nearby buildings and felt like an earthquake.
