Uzbekistan President Welcomes Gulf Legislative Leaders in Tashkent

Tashkent: His Excellency Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, received Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, along with several heads of Gulf legislative councils, the Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives, and the President of the Arab Parliament, on the sidelines of the 150th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), held in Tashkent.

According to Bahrain News Agency, President Mirziyoyev highlighted the strong historical ties between Uzbekistan and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and emphasized their shared interest in furthering bilateral relations. He welcomed Al Musallam and conveyed his greetings and gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, expressing hope to meet the King during the upcoming International Oil and Gas Conference to be hosted by Uzbekistan in May.

President Mirziyoyev also stressed the important role of legislative bodies in supporting relations between Uzbekistan and GCC countries. He praised Gulf parliaments for backing global parliamentary efforts and contributing to the success of the IPU.

The Speaker conveyed the greetings and appreciation of His Majesty the King, along with His Majesty's best wishes for continued progress and prosperity for Uzbekistan and its people. He reaffirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain's commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation with Uzbekistan across various domains and to continuing parliamentary coordination to strengthen ties between the two countries.

Al Musallam expressed his appreciation to Uzbekistan for the warm welcome, generous hospitality, and successful organisation of the 150th IPU General Assembly.
