US Central Command announces its destruction of 7 drones in areas under Houthi control in Yemen

Baghdad: The US Central Command, Centcom, announced that it had destroyed 7 drones in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen.

Centcom said in a statement on the X platform: ‘In the past 24 hours, US Central Command forces succeeded in destroying seven drones and one ground control station vehicle in the areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen.’

The statement added: “The drones and ground control station were found to represent an imminent threat to the United States, coalition forces, and commercial ships in the region, and these measures are being taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters protected and safer.”

Since November, the Yemeni Ansar Allah movement (Houthis) has launched dozens of attacks with missiles and drones on commercial ships in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea. The movement considers these ships to be linked to Israel or heading to its ports, and says that this comes in support of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip in light of the war that has been going on since the
seventh of last October.

Earlier, the Houthis confirmed their readiness for a long-term battle with the United States, stressing that they impose complete control over the waterways in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea.
