Manama: The Urban Planning and Development Authority (UPDA) has introduced the "Planning Approval Endorsement" service on its digital platform "Planning," in collaboration with the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA). This development is part of ongoing efforts to improve urban planning services in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the new service allows engineering offices and government entities to seek official endorsements from Urban Planning Affairs. This process evaluates the suitability of land for development based on approved plans, including considerations for land use, building regulations, and parking requirements. The service is particularly necessary for areas with undefined regulatory classifications, such as zones designated for special projects.
The addition of this service brings the total number of services offered on the platform to 15. Since March 25, users have been able to register, apply, and track their requests online through the website www.planning.bh.
Ahmed Abdulaziz Al Khayyat, Chief Executive of the UPDA, stated that the service is designed to streamline procedures and reduce the time required to obtain building permits, thereby supporting project quality and enhancing the business environment. He emphasized that 182 requests for planning approvals were received in 2024, highlighting the demand in the market.
Mohamed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the iGA, emphasized the importance of digital platforms and geographic information systems in improving the efficiency of real estate services and advancing national development objectives.
The Planning platform offers licensed engineering offices the ability to submit applications, track statuses, receive guidance, and pay service fees. Additionally, it provides users with access to planning requirements, legislation, and an interactive map detailing zoning conditions for each plot across the Kingdom.
