UoB and USM Forge Academic Partnership During Bahraini Crown Prince’s Visit

Kuala Lumpur: In the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the University of Bahrain (UoB) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) during an official visit to Malaysia. This agreement aims to enhance academic cooperation between the two institutions.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the memorandum includes provisions for the exchange of faculty and lecturers, as well as the development of joint academic programs. The agreement was signed by Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, on behalf of Bahrain, and Professor Dato' Seri Ir. Dr. Abdul Rahman Mohamed, Vice Chancellor of USM, on behalf of Malaysia.

The five-year agreement focuses on enhancing collaboration in several areas such as postgraduate studies, joint research initiatives, academic publishing, and the organization of joint academic events.

Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of UoB, expressed approval of the outcomes from the Crown Prince's visit, emphasizing that the MoU with USM is set to advance academic and research ties between Bahrain and Malaysia, particularly in education, higher education, and scientific research.
