Manama: The University of Bahrain (UOB) and the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) have signed a memorandum of cooperation at the chamber's headquarters.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the memorandum was signed by Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Bahrain, and Nabeel Khalid Kanoo, Chairman of BCCI. The Education Minister underscored the university's commitment to bolster cooperation with BCCI, highlighting the importance of aligning applied research with the economy's needs. He also emphasized the provision of advanced practical training opportunities to aid students' transition into the workforce.
The BCCI Chairman expressed gratitude to the minister for facilitating the development of this cooperation. Kanoo described the memorandum as a significant step in strengthening relations, noting its contribution to shared objectives that support Bahraini students, the national economy, and the private sector.
The memorandum focuses on enhancing cooperation in policy development and exchanging studies, statistics, and proposals that advance economic plans. It aims to support legislative and legal frameworks related to the economy, linking academic research with labor market needs.
Areas of collaboration include preparing and publishing studies, organizing conferences and economic events, and providing access to knowledge resources. The agreement also aims to integrate human capital into the labor market and create practical training opportunities.
The signing was preceded by a meeting between the Minister of Education, the BCCI Chairman, and board members, during which they exchanged views on the future of education and the private sector's role in the Kingdom.
