Manama: The University of Bahrain's Unit for Teaching Excellence and Leadership (UTEL) has received official accreditation from Advance HE for its professional development programmes under the new 2023 Professional Standards Framework (PSF). This marks the third accreditation by the UK-based body.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Fuad Mohamed Al Ansari, President of the University of Bahrain (UoB), received Dr. Amal Mohammed Al Rayes, Director of UTEL, and commended the unit's efforts in advancing the professional development of faculty and enhancing the overall quality of education for students.

The accredited programmes include the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PCAP), the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Certificate in both Arabic and English, and the New to Teaching in Bahrain (NTB) Certificate. UTEL was first accredited by Advance HE in 2016, becoming the first certified centre of its kind in the region. Its bilingual programmes were reaccredited in 2022.
