New york: Khaled Yousef Al Jalahma, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, participated in the annual ministerial meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held in New York on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Jalahma expressed the Kingdom of Bahrain's appreciation to the Republic of Trkiye for chairing the current session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, and to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its continued hosting of the organisation's headquarters and its ongoing support for its work. He emphasised Bahrain's commitment to supporting just Islamic causes, advancing multilateral cooperation, sustaining support for joint Islamic initiatives, and continuing its active participation in the organisation's work in a manner that serves the interests of member states and promotes security and sustainable development.
Al Jalahma underlined the importance of strengthening solidarity among Islamic countries and supporting efforts to achieve peace and stability. He stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the delivery of humanitarian aid, and the release of hostages and detainees, calling on the international community to support the efforts of the international coalition to implement the two-state solution, ensuring the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in line with international legitimacy resolutions.
Hatem Abdulhameed Hatem, Chief of the Organisations Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended the meeting.
