UKMTO reports an attack targeting a ship off Yemen

Baghdad: The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Authority (UKMTO) confirmed that a ship was attacked 246 miles off the coast of the Yemeni city of Nishtun.

UKMTO wrote in its account on the ‘X’ platform: ‘UKMTO received a report about an incident that occurred 246 nautical miles (about 456 kilometers) southeast of Nishtun (in Al-Mahra Governorate), Yemen.’ The incident was classified as an “attack.”

It indicated in the statement that the authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident, and advised ships to move in the area ‘with caution’ and to report any suspicious activity.

The “Houthis” in Yemen have previously announced their support for Palestine and their intention to attack any ships linked to Israel or that sail to Israeli ports. They stressed that they do not interfere with freedom of navigation in the region and do not interfere against the ships of other countries.
