UAE President Receives Sierra Leone President; Reviews Bilateral Ties, Regional Developments

Abu dhabi: His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, received His Excellency Julius Maada Bio, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, who is on a working visit to the UAE. During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed avenues to further advance bilateral relations in support of the interests of both countries and their peoples, particularly across priority sectors including economy, trade, investment, renewable energy, and sustainability.

According to Bahrain News Agency, this engagement comes within the framework of the UAE-Sierra Leone Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement signed in February. The leaders affirmed their shared commitment to advancing the objectives of the agreement, underscoring its role as a key platform for strengthening cooperation and leveraging opportunities to foster development partnerships aligned with both countries' aspirations for growth and prosperity.

The meeting also addressed developments in the Middle East and their implications for regional and international peace and security, including their impact on maritime security and the global economy. On his part, President Bio reiterated his condemnation of the Iranian terrorist attacks targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure in the UAE and other countries in the region, noting that they constitute a violation of sovereignty and international law, and undermine regional security and stability.
