Abu dhabi: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Canada have successfully concluded negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). This agreement stands out as the fastest completed under the UAE's CEPA programme since its inception in September 2021.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the agreement aims to reduce tariffs, expand market access, and create new opportunities for the private sector across strategic sectors such as aviation, agrifood, critical minerals, clean energy, and data centers. The non-oil trade between the UAE and Canada saw a significant rise, reaching approximately US$4.2 billion in 2025, which is a 21% increase from the previous year.
The agreement is also anticipated to bolster cooperation in sectors like aluminium and steel, aerospace, agrifood, and seafood. It is expected to facilitate billions of dollars in investment in major projects, including ports, mines, liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities, data centers, and critical minerals.
