Two security personnel killed and 5 others wounded in a shooting at a car carrying electoral boxes in southeastern Iran


Baghdad: Two security forces members were killed and 5 others were injured during shooting at a car carrying ballot boxes for the presidential elections in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, southeastern Iran.

The Iranian Mehr Agency said, “Gunmen opened fire on a car carrying ballot boxes in the Jikigor area of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, southeastern Iran.”

No group claimed responsibility for the attack, while the opposition Jaish al-Adl Baloch organization, which Tehran considers a terrorist organization, is active in the Sistan and Baluchestan province adjacent to the border with Pakistan.

Iran witnessed early presidential elections approved by the republic’s authorities after the death of President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash on May 19.
