Manama: The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications has launched the Mobility Sustainathon, a competition for university and college students in the Kingdom of Bahrain aimed at promoting sustainable transport solutions and supporting the development of smart, eco-friendly cities.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Fatima Abdullah Al Dhaen, Undersecretary for Land Transport and Postal Affairs, stated that the initiative is part of the ministry’s efforts to engage youth in shaping the future of Bahrain’s transport sector. She emphasized that students’ innovative ideas will help advance smart and sustainable transport systems that enhance quality of life and support digital transformation.
She further explained that the competition aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to innovation, infrastructure, and climate action, by encouraging ideas that reduce carbon emissions and improve transport efficiency.
University students are invited to register through the ministry’s website, www.mtt.gov.bh. Shortlisted participants will be invited to present their ideas, and winners will be honoured in December.
