Manama: Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications of Bahrain, welcomed Dr. Noura Mohammed Al Mashaan, Kuwait's Minister of Public Works, as part of her official visit to Bahrain. The meeting was aimed at enhancing the collaboration between the two countries in the areas of transportation, logistics, and infrastructure development.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the ministers acknowledged the longstanding strategic partnership between Bahrain and Kuwait, which is based on mutual respect and cooperation. Dr. Shaikh Abdulla emphasized that the strong Bahraini-Kuwaiti relations are a reflection of the directives from both nations' leadership-His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain and His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, the Amir of Kuwait.
The discussions focused on reinforcing Gulf cooperation in vital sectors under the guidance of Bahrain's leadership. Dr. Shaikh Abdulla highlighted the importance of enhancing mutual efforts in infrastructure and transportation sectors, aiming for seamless maritime connectivity and the advancement of joint Gulf economic initiatives. These are in alignment with the Gulf Cooperation Council's vision for increased regional integration.
Dr. Noura Al Mashaan expressed her pride in the relationship between Kuwait and Bahrain, describing it as a model for constructive Gulf cooperation. She praised Bahrain's efforts to enhance its transportation and port infrastructure while stressing the significance of continued collaboration to improve logistics services and foster digital innovation, which are crucial for regional economic integration and development.
The meeting also included discussions on activating existing agreements and enhancing joint initiatives, particularly in port operations, maritime navigation, and land transport. The ministers stressed the need for clear implementation frameworks, expertise exchange, and coordinated actions to support strategic Gulf infrastructure projects that would promote economic interconnectivity and mobility across the region.
The visit concluded with a tour of the Khalifa Bin Salman Port, including the cruise terminal, and a boat trip to the Bu Maher Fort Museum. This offered the Kuwaiti delegation a chance to experience Bahrain's rich maritime heritage and its historical connections to seafaring.
