Dubai: Dr. Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, led the Kingdom of Bahrain's delegation participating in the 2026 World Governments Summit, held in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, under the theme "Shaping Future Governments".
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Abdulla bin Ahmed stated that Bahrain's participation underscores its commitment to adapting to global changes in government operations, promoting the exchange of expertise and international best practices in public policy development, and accelerating digital transformation and innovation in government services to align with citizens' expectations and enhance institutional performance.
The Transportation Minister highlighted that the summit serves as a premier international platform for addressing future challenges faced by governments and exploring innovative solutions leveraging modern technologies, artificial intelligence, and big data. This initiative aims to construct more flexible, efficient, and sustainable governments and enhance their capacity to meet comprehensive development needs.
The Kingdom's delegation included the Minister of Sustainable Development, the Minister of Information, the Minister of Youth Affairs, the Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain, and the President of the Civil Service Bureau. The delegation engaged in various panel discussions and specialised forums, examined leading global experiences in government performance and digital services, and explored avenues to enhance cooperation with participating international institutions and organisations.
The summit convenes more than 6,250 participants from government leaders and experts, aiming to develop shared strategies and visions to enhance governmental operations and strengthen international cooperation, alongside devising practical and effective solutions to escalating global challenges.
The summit programme features over 445 sessions, with more than 450 speakers, including presidents, ministers, decision-makers, and experts. Additionally, it includes over 700 chief executives of major global institutions and companies, 87 scientists who have received Nobel Prizes and other prestigious scientific awards, and representatives from over 80 international and regional organisations and academic and research institutions.
