Manama: Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, welcomed Dr. Abdallah Al Dardari, Assistant Secretary General, Assistant Administrator, and Director of the Regional Bureau for Arab States at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation and strategic partnerships between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Nations.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister emphasized Bahrain's commitment to advancing infrastructure development and the transportation, telecommunications, and information technology sectors. This commitment aligns with the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed also expressed appreciation for the growing partnership between Bahrain and the UN and its specialized agencies, which supports the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla further highlighted the government's dedication, under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to enhance cooperation with the UNDP. This includes training national cadres and developing skills in artificial intelligence and digital innovation. He underscored the importance of supporting joint projects and initiatives that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (2025-2029).
Dr. Abdallah Al Dardari, on his part, expressed appreciation for the minister's commitment to advancing technical, developmental, and strategic cooperation with the UN. He conveyed his wishes for continued progress and prosperity for the Kingdom and its people.
