Train Accident in Cheongdo: Two Workers Killed, Four Injured

Cheongdo: Two workers were killed, and another four were seriously hurt on Tuesday after being struck by a passenger train in the southeastern county of Cheongdo, officials said. The accident occurred around 10:50 am near the Cheongdo Bullfighting Stadium when a Mugunghwa train bound for Jinju in South Gyeongsang Province hit seven workers who were inspecting structures on a slope near the tracks. According to Bahrain News Agency, police and the state-run Korea Railroad Corp. (KORAIL) reported that the workers were taken to a nearby hospital, where two succumbed to their injuries. The remaining worker sustained light injuries. The workers involved in the accident included personnel from a safety inspection company and KORAIL. There were eighty-nine passengers on board the train at the time of the incident, with no injuries reported among them.
