The President Affirms: Book Fairs Constitute A Starting Point For Cross-Fertilization Of Cultures, Rapprochement, And Openness Between Peoples

The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, confirmed that book fairs constitute a starting point for the cross-fertilization of cultures, rapprochement and openness between peoples.

The Presidency of the Republic said in a statement, “The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, visited today, Saturday, the Baghdad International Book Fair in its twenty-fourth session.”

The statement added, “The President, accompanied by the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, toured the exhibition pavilions, which included the products of many Arab and local publishing houses, and was briefed on the latest publications in the cultural, intellectual, and scientific fields.”

The statement indicated that “Rashid spoke to a number of publishers, stressing that book fairs are a vital means of enriching the cultural and intellectual scene of societies, the cross-fertilization of cultures between nations, and rapprochement, dialogue and openness between peoples, which consolidates positive concepts towards peace, stability and coexistence.”

The President of the Republic expressed his wishes for success to the participants, praising the efforts made by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, the Iraqi Publishers Union and the supporting parties in holding this Book Fair.
