The Peshmerga and the Army carry out a joint operation against ISIS in Garmian

Peshmerga brigades, in conjunction with the Iraqi Army, carried out a large-scale operation against ISIS elements in the areas known as "security spaces" in Garmian.

The operation began at 5:00 this morning, Saturday (May 27, 2023), with the participation of the 3rd, 5th, 9th, 17th and 711th Brigades of the Peshmerga forces.

The Commander of the 17th Brigade, Colonel Hakim Sati, told Rudaw Media Network: "His forces are moving from the areas of" Qori Chai and Balkana towards the Ghorra Heights," pointing out that the other brigades are carrying out their tasks in other axes.

The security vacuums are the areas located between the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi forces, in which neither of them is present.

Colonel Hakim Sati said: "ISIS uses the security gaps for its movements and attacks, and the aim of the operation is to eliminate ISIS in those areas."
