In recent years, there has been rapid growth, which has contributed to the growth of the global economy in general.

In Jerusalem, the high-tech sector depends mainly on international, multinational or Israeli companies working in the field of software development in several areas, including website development, networks, electronics, etc. This sector was not widespread in the East Jerusalem region to a greater extent previously than it is now with a wider spread, and it was There are great challenges for Jerusalemites to reach this sector, and some were able to overcome the difficulties, achieve success, and reach high levels of employment in international companies specializing in high-tech.

In this report, we highlight success stories of Jerusalemites in the high-tech sector, and some Jerusalemite institutions that are considered incubators for some emerging projects in the high-tech field in Jerusalem.

Software engineer Marwan Jabr from the village of Abu Ghosh in Jerusalem. He graduated from the Arab American University in Jenin in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in information technology. He worked with a telecommunications company in Ramallah as a programmer for a year, then joined a German company in Tel Aviv and later in an American telecommunications company, and now He holds the position of Product Manager at the German company (SIP).

In the following video, Marwan tells us more about the high-tech field in Jerusalem, how it provides job opportunities for Jerusalemites, and what challenges they face in entering this sector. Firas Najjar, a computer engineer from Jerusalem, currently works at Microsoft. He studied this specialty at one of the institutes in Haifa. During his studies, he worked with a German company at home for 6 years, and in the last four years he moved to Microsoft.

In the following video, Firas tells us more about his experience studying this specialty and entering the high-tech sector, and what difficulties he faced despite the abundance of job opportunities and the increased demand for human minds in the high-tech field in these times, as he said.

In the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, we met Farah Jebreen, project coordinator at the Jerusalem Station, an institution that embraces all groups of the Jerusalemite people, specifically the youth, working to hone their skills and provide them with sufficient knowledge to engage in the labor market to be entrepreneurs, male and female, and to open their own projects and empower them economically. Recently, the Jerusalem Station is working on A business accelerator program called “Seeds” to support small and emerging projects in the city of Jerusalem in various fields, specifically in the field of high-tech.
