The FM And Plasschaert Discuss The Ongoing Preparations For The Local Elections

The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, discussed with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Jenin Plasschaert, the ongoing preparations for the local elections.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, “The Minister of Foreign Affairs met with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Jenin Plasschaert, today, Saturday, and the minister referred during the meeting to the priorities that Iraq will put forward in its participation in the meetings of the (78th) session of the United Nations General Assembly, which will be held next September in the United Nations headquarters in New York, as well as discussing Iraq’s relationship with the United Nations Mission, UNAMI and specialized international agencies and their tasks, and the ongoing preparations, by the Independent High Electoral Commission, regarding the local elections, scheduled for December 18 next.

It added, “The minister also touched on the issue of Al-Hol camp, national measures and programs for reintegration, as well as contacting with countries to evacuate their nationals, and ongoing consultations with the United Nations and partners in this regard.”/ End
