Tension ran high at the Palestinian refugee camp of Ein El-Hilweh in Sidon city, southwest Lebanon, on Saturday after an attempt on the life of an Islamic activist.
An unknown gunman opened shot at the man near Khaled bin Al-Walid Mosque at the refugee camp, the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported tonight.
Two explosions and bursts of gunfire were heard in the area following the incident, which prompted the Lebanese army to tighten the security measures at and around the camp.
