TAYMOUR JUMBLATT ADDRESSING HIS FATHER FOLLOWING HIS ELECTION AS NEW PSP CHIEF: YOU WILL REMAIN THE ROLE MODEL, EXAMPLE, SYMBOL AND REFERENCE

MP Taymour Jumblatt said after his election as head of the Progressive Socialist Party: “I renew the pledge to Kamal Jumblatt’s humanitarian notion that unites his party, its martyrs, and its fighters.” Addressing the comrades, Jumblatt added: “I thank you for your trust and know well the difficulty of preserving an intellectual, humanitarian and struggle legacy written by testimonies and sacrifices, so let us benefit from past experiences to draw a vision for the future with fewer mistakes.” He continued, “We will carry together the values of democratic Arabism in the face of petrification and racism, and we will raise high the flag of Palestine and the ideology of human socialism.” Jumblatt affirmed that the Progressive Socialist Party “will remain the party of struggle for the preservation of Lebanon’s institutions and true dialogue, not a Lebanon of vacuum and obstruction,” pledging to “endeavor to complete the presidential election, away from the fronts of rejection for the sake of economic reform and the rights and dignity of citizens.” Turning to his father, Taymour Jumblatt said: “You, Walid Jumblatt, will always remain the role model, the example, the symbol, and the reference…The march continues, and we will march and win with you. Men are men, principles are principles, and the struggle continues.” In turn, Jumblatt addressed his son saying, ‘Life is a victory for the strong in their souls, not for the weak, and this is what Mentor Kamal Jumblatt advised us…Regardless of the vicissitudes of time, changing conditions, and the surprises of fate, Al-Mukhtara has been and shall remain, and so shall the Progressive Socialist Party.’ Jumblatt considered in his word during the party’s general election conference that, “radical comprehensive reform is more than a necessity away from the cosmetic prescriptions of international bodies,” stressing that “dialogue is the only way to reach a settlement and consolidate reconciliation.” He believed that “liberating the land in the Shebaa Farms and the Kfar Shuba Hills from the Israeli occupation without restriction or condition is a matter associated with the demarcation of the borders,” noting that “strengthening the army and enhancing its capabilities along with a defense plan is a dire necessity.” He also pointed out that “rejecting division or federalism does not mean evading administrative decentralization and balanced development.” Regarding what is happening in Palestine, Jumblatt said: “It is the end of the illusion of the two states, and what is happening is an abortion of the Arab initiative.”
