Manama: The round of 32 matches in the Manama Open Tennis Championship continued into the second week, with a series of strong and exciting contests completed yesterday. The tournament, organised by the Bahrain Tennis Federation, runs from November 10-17 on the courts of the Public Security Officers Club in Qudaibiya.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Syrian player Hazem Naw successfully defeated Russia's Pavel Verbin with a score of 6-3, 6-4, securing his advancement in the tournament. In another notable match, Romania's Vladislav Melnik overcame Kuwait's Essa Qabazard in a hard-fought battle, eventually winning 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, resulting in Qabazard's exit from the championship.

Additional matches showcased strong performances from players around the globe. Germany's Maximilian Homberg triumphed over Bulgaria's Petr Nesterov in three sets, finishing 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Uzbekistan's Sergey Fomin secured a decisive victory against Ukraine's Volodymyr Yakubenko, concluding the match 6-2, 6-2. Ireland's Kian Maguire dominated India's Aniketh Venkataraman with a commanding 6-0, 6-0 win.

Other matches included Germany's Nino Ehrenschneider, who prevailed over Australia's Benjamin O'Connell with a scoreline of 6-4, 5-7, 6-1. Poland's Olaf Pieczkowski defeated the United Kingdom's Zaid Stephens 6-3, 6-2. Germany's Calvin Mueller emerged victorious against Senegal's Seydina Andre with a comeback win of 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-4, and the Netherlands' Jelle Sels outplayed France's Nicolas Gaidon 6-4, 6-7(2), 6-1.
