Manama: The Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB) organised a workshop to introduce the Geospatial Data Platform (Geoportal), its digital services and geospatial products, and how to use them to support government work and improve decision-making across the Kingdom of Bahrain's development sectors.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Basem bin Yaqoub Al Hamar, President of the SLRB, stated that the bureau's development initiatives, especially awareness and training programmes to build national capacity, along with the launch of the geospatial data platform, are essential to an advanced government system that relies on digital transformation and data integration. He mentioned that these initiatives reflect the bureau's commitment to following global best practices and aligning with the global land management model, improving government efficiency, supporting sustainable development, and contributing to Bahrain's development goals for a more inclusive and advanced future.
Al Hamar noted that the workshop followed up on what was presented at the Bahrain Geospatial Data Convention 2026, held in January, where the platform was officially announced. He added that these initiatives reflect the bureau's aim to enable government entities to use geospatial data and modern digital solutions.
The workshop included a live, interactive demonstration of the platform, showing its specialised tools and data, and presenting practical examples based on major national projects. The session saw strong engagement from attendees through discussions and questions, reflecting interest in expanding the platform's practical use. The geospatial platform is an integrated digital system designed to standardise and simplify the exchange of geospatial data among relevant entities, providing wider access to accurate information and enabling effective use of data in strategic decision-making and digital transformation.
