Manama: Shaikh Dr. Rashid bin Mohammed bin Futtais Al Hajri, Chairman of the Sunni Endowments Council, announced that Eid Al Fitr prayers will be held at 6:00 am in the main Jami’ mosques and several other mosques temporarily converted into Jami’ mosques during the Holy Month of Ramadhan. This decision is in response to the current circumstances preventing the use of the customary open-air prayer areas.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the announcement included a congratulatory message from the chairman on behalf of the Sunni Endowments Council, extending Eid greetings to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the people of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Shaikh Dr. Al Hajri expressed wishes for continued security and safety for Bahrain and all Muslim countries.
The chairman clarified that the mosques serving as Jami’ mosques during Ramadan will also accommodate Eid prayers. He stressed that the religious guidance from the Endowments is founded on balance and wisdom, aimed at fostering unity and stability. He highlighted the importance of a united society in facing challenges, and reiterated that religious values promote cooperation and peace within the community.
In Muharraq Governorate, the designated mosques include Al Bourshaid Mosque (Hidd), Haya bint Mohammed Al Bufalsa Mosque (Hidd – Cabin), and several others. In the Southern Governorate, mosques such as Al Ikhlas Mosque (Isa Town) and Badria Mirbati Mosque (East Riffa – Buhair) will host prayers. The Northern Governorate’s mosques include Al Duwaisan Mosque (Hamad Town – Roundabout 1), with Saad bin Abi Waqqas Mosque in Umm Al Hassam designated for the Capital Governorate.
Shaikh Dr. Al Hajri emphasized that, given the current circumstances, preachers are requested to adhere to specific instructions for the safety of worshippers: Eid prayers will be held only in approved Jami’ mosques at precisely 6:00 am, with the prayer and sermon (Khutbah) not exceeding 15 minutes. Open-air prayer areas will not be used.
The chairman reminded preachers of the importance of praying for the Kingdom of Bahrain, its leadership, the armed forces, the Bahraini people, and all residents, underscoring the significance of these prayers for national and communal well-being.
