Manama: Ali bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, expressed approval for the Kingdom of Bahrain's election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2026-2027, emphasizing international confidence in Bahrain's diplomacy centered on peace, security, and sustainable development.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Speaker extended congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He noted that this second term underscores Bahrain's dedication to dialogue, tolerance, diplomatic solutions, and adherence to international law.
Al Musallam praised Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the diplomatic team for their contributions to this success. He stated that Bahrain's priorities during its Security Council term will focus on enhancing the role of Arab and Islamic groups, defending key issues, promoting multilateralism, and respecting international law. Additionally, Bahrain aims to address traditional and emerging security threats, particularly in areas such as cybersecurity, maritime security, and combating terrorism financing, while also supporting the participation of women and youth in international decision-making.
He highlighted Bahrain's strategic role in regional stability and the pursuit of a just peace for Palestine. Furthermore, he stressed the commitment of parliamentary diplomacy to support official diplomacy in advancing peace, human rights, and sustainable development on a global scale.
