Speaker Receives NAO Annual Report for 2024-2025

Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, met with Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, the Auditor General of the National Audit Office (NAO), who presented the 22nd NAO Annual Report for 2024-2025 to the Council of Representatives. Al Musallam emphasized the legislative authority's commitment to supporting and enhancing the financial and administrative oversight system, aiming to safeguard public funds and promote high-quality, efficient, and equitable performance. He stressed the continued efforts to work and achieve results within the framework of the rule of law, institutional governance, and the comprehensive developmental process of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Speaker also commended the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, instructing government entities to strengthen internal controls, ensure optimal use of public funds, and systematically review and address all observations outlined in the Audit Bureau's reports, taking necessary legal measures where required. He highlighted the Council of Representatives' keenness to study the report meticulously, following constitutional and legal procedures, and to discuss its contents to reinforce the Council's legislative and oversight responsibilities.

The Speaker praised the NAO for its precise, independent, and professional oversight of state funds and resources, ensuring lawful use and effective implementation of laws and administrative decisions. On his part, Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed highlighted its proactive approach and emphasized its cooperation with audited entities and strict adherence to professional standards. The Auditor General highlighted that the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, along with the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has been instrumental to the NAO's efficient performance. Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed underscored the NAO's commitment to its legal mandate, staff development, and global auditing standards.
