Speaker Participates in Coordination Meeting of Arab Parliament Speakers

Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, participated in the coordination meeting of Arab parliament speakers, held on the sidelines of the 8th Conference of the Arab Parliament, with the participation of a number of Arab parliament speakers.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Speaker emphasized that the meeting serves as a crucial platform for enhancing Arab coordination and cooperation amidst accelerating challenges that necessitate a unified parliamentary stance in regional and international forums.

He pointed out that joint Arab parliamentary action should focus on supporting security, stability, and development across Arab countries. He further called for stronger legislative and oversight efforts to protect national sovereignty and resist external interference.

The Speaker underscored the significance of Arab parliamentary diplomacy in raising awareness of Arab issues on the international stage, especially concerning the Palestinian cause. He reaffirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain's support, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, for the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Additionally, he advocated for heightened cooperation between the Arab Parliament and the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union through enhanced joint mechanisms and the exchange of legislative expertise.
