Speaker Meets Professional Fishermen’s Association Chairman to Discuss Fisheries Sector Development

Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, met with Ibrahim Mohammed Al Buainain, Chairman of the Professional Fishermen's Association, along with association members. Al Musallam emphasized the Council's dedication to advancing the fishing sector, addressing the needs of local fishermen, and preserving a profession that is a significant part of Bahrain's national heritage.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Musallam reiterated the legislature's commitment to supporting the growth of Bahrain's fisheries sector, safeguarding marine resources, and ensuring their long-term sustainability. He also highlighted the importance of protecting the natural pearl trade, which symbolizes Bahrain's authenticity and heritage, in alignment with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Al Musallam acknowledged the efforts of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in protecting Bahrain's marine wealth and strengthening national food security. He commended the introduction of measures to preserve fisheries as a key national resource and vital source of income for Bahraini fishermen.

Furthermore, Al Musallam praised the Supreme Council for the Environment, chaired by His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Personal Representative of His Majesty the King. He recognized the Council's efforts to support fishermen and develop the fishing industry in a manner that sustains marine life, preserves natural resources, and advances national sustainable development goals.

The Speaker emphasized that protecting the marine environment and fisheries is a shared national responsibility. He assured that the Council of Representatives will continue to support Bahraini fishermen, safeguard their interests, and advance the fishing profession through relevant legislative initiatives.
